DIVYAM MEHTA is a maker of rare & collectible clothing with strong Indian roots and a taste for the contemporary.

Drawing from an emotive and happenstance quality in nature, Divyam’s work explores the dichotomies of wabi and precision, heritage and hereafter, hand and machine. Espousing traditional crafts with industrial techniques and conscious practices to craft purposefully unconventional apparel that blurs the boundary between opulent and mundane.

With a reverence for imperfection , abstraction and minimalism his work continuously explores possibilities with Indian handlooms, kantha stitchwork, shibori and block printing. Working closely with master artisans, the brand strives to push each technique to its finest possibility. So, the already minute stitch of Kantha embroidery transformed into the iconic ‘bindu’ – dot Kantha, evolving from decoration ‘upon’ fabric to a seamless part of its body. And Shibori, a tie & dye technique which typically features geometric patterns, turned into a detailed exploration of light and shadow.

Divyam’s clothing conveys both cultural pride and unflinching individuality – a look that balances masculinity lightness with a strong avant-garde undertone.

Hailing from a family of textile connoisseurs and designers, Divyam developed a deep love for art and design at a very early age. From making art from textile waste at his parent’s kids wear factory to honing his craft at the Pearl Academy of Fashion, his graduation collection won him the most avant-garde designer award. This was followed by a stint in fashion management at London College of Fashion. With a handful of artisans, Divyam launched his first menswear line in 2009. His first womenswear collection was debuted at the Wills India Fashion week in 2010 and received many accolades from buyers across the country.
